FAQ
Top > Domain Names
When users enter my domain name into a web browser, they get a "The page cannot be displayed" message, or a "Coming Soon" message from our domain registry.
Your domain name is not pointed at our servers. Check with your registry to see if this was done correctly.

Modify DNS Settings

Please skip this step if you registered your domain through us. In order for others to access your site, your domain must be pointing to our servers. To accomplish this, go to your domain registrar and modify the name servers record to use our name servers. Our name servers are:

ns5.q-surf.com
ns6.q-surf.com

Normally, name servers modification will be effective within 72 hours. Depending on your existing name servers configuration, there is a slight possibility that your site will not be available until name server modification is completed.

Please do not change the DNS settings for your account in our control panel unless you are an expert in DNS and know exactly what you are doing. DNS files are configured correctly when new accounts are set up, so any improper modifications will cause your website and e-mail to be inaccessible.

Register.com Customers:

Please visit Register.com Domain Manager. When prompted, enter the name and password you used to create your domain, and click on "Modify DNS". Check off the "Delete" boxes next to all existing DNS entries, and enter our settings in each of the blank boxes (directly below the settings to be deleted). Then click on "Yes" to enter your changes. You will then be sent a confirmation via e-mail (to the e-mail address you provided at the time your domain was registered) which must be returned in order for these changes to take effect. No changes will be made unless you return that notice.

Verisign / Network Solutions Customers:

Click here to change your DNS settings if you used Network Solutions to register your domain name. Enter your domain name or account number and password, and click "Go". Select "I want to:" "transfer my Domain Name to another ISP", and click on "Go". Enter your e-mail address (this should be the e-mail address you provided at the time your domain was registered), and click on "Go". You should now see your complete domain name record and contact information. Scroll down about half way through the form to the "Name Server Information" section, and replace the old Primary and Secondary DNS settings with our settings. Click on "Submit This Form For Processing". You will then be sent a confirmation via e-mail (to the e-mail address you provided at the time your domain was registered) which must be returned in order for these changes to take effect. No changes will be made unless you return that notice.

Test your domain name

You will not be able to access your web site nor emails unless name servers modifications/domain registration process is completed. Normally, the processes may take up to 72 hours. To test your domain name, you can try to access your site with a browser. If you can see our "Under Construction" page, your domain name is configured properly.

If you cannot access your site after 72 hours of name servers modification,

  1. Please try to run "ping yourdomain.com" in command prompt. If ping returns our IP address, please email our technical support and we will galdly help you. Otherwise, please continue;
  2. Please use our whois utility and enter your domain name. If the whois listing does not return our name servers, please contact your domain registrar.
